About The Work

The first of the two acts performed by Uto Gusztav and Eva Vajda in BLURRR 3 was a short, humorous one in which each painted three fingers - one the colors of the Romanian flag, the other - those of the Hungarian (both artists belong to the Hungarian minority in Romania). The action was a mocking cycle of conflict, from its amicable beginnings, through provocation and fighting, ending in a symbolic handshake.
The second performance, entitled Travel, was more closely related to their perception of Israeli history. The artists walked on a life-buoy filled with water (alluding not only to Christ walking on the water in the Sea of Galilee, but also to the Jewish prohibition of traveling on the Sabbath, except by water), and then re-created their own silhouettes with oranges which were subsequently offered to the public.
