About The WorkLike the bulk of Tamar Raban's works, She has a Headache in Her Stomach was based on an autobiographical incident. The work was a narrative hybrid: a cross between an experience Raban had had in Paris - meeting a Palestinian artist who taught her an Arab children's song, and a toy she purchased in Berlin. Raban employed video and slide projectors, playback and live sound to create a rich narrative tapestry, superimposing different layers of time and space. About The ArtistRaban graduated from Haifa University, Art Department in 1982, and
is one of the founding members and presently the director of Shelter
209, a non-profit organization for the Advancement of Interdisciplinary
Art. |
