Emergency Routine activates civic alliances as they are performed between bodies in moments of danger. The exercise is a public experiment based on different forms of eviction. Together with the audience, five members of Public Movement perform choreographies of care, governance and compassion, reexamining the ways in which “the state” reaches and touches its citizens. Emergency Routine was created in 2019 for “The Choreographies of the Social,” curated by Edi Muka for Public Art Agency Sweden, and was a result of a historical research into “Operation Stockholm 1961,” which was the largest evacuation drill ever performed in peacetime. Emergency Routine is part of “NOT IN MY NAME,” CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo’s annual exhibition.
