Initiated by artists and CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo Content Manager Muhammad Toukhy and Office Manager Guy Bernard Reichmann, “out-of-office” is a series of events presented in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Focused on time-based practices such as video, dance, and performance, and in line with the multidisciplinary mission of the Center, “o-o-o” was conceived to nurture the scene during the dramatic time of the pandemic and its aftermath. The ninth iteration of the program is No, Zeitgeist, a performance by Danielle Shoufra. The piece refers to what the artist defines as the “disintegration of compassion, which takes place in times of war and pain, while we experience the disintegration of all the imaginary layers of solidarity.” No, Zeitgeist is a dance that addresses the role of unity and mutual support in restoring the body’s energy – the power of an ensemble. It draws inspiration from monumental structures and images related to Social Realism, here deconstructed and repositioned within the domestic context. The piece was created by Danielle Shoufra and is performed by Meshi Olinky, Natalie Afriat Maayan Horesh, and Efrat Levi.
No, Zeitgeist was initially created for the International Performance Conference, Jerusalem and the Saint Petersburg Festival, Haifa; Tel Aviv-Yafo.
