Led by artists and CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo Office Manager Guy Bernard Reichmann and Content Manager Mona Benyamin, “out-of-office” is a series of events to be presented in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Focused on time-based practices such as video, dance, and performance, and in line with the multidisciplinary mission of the Center, “o-o-o” was conceived as a way to nurture the domestic scene.
For the third season of “o-o-o,” choreographer May Zarhy initiated a series in which for three consecutive days – May 15, 16 and 17 – two dance pieces will be presented. The two works presented on the second night are Ausencia (2021) by Zarhy and Chameleons (2023) by Anat Shamgar and Uri Shafir. Developed during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ausencia is a duet performed by one person, conceived for an intimate audience and relating to the body and its absence, to the possibility of touch, and to the difficulty to fulfill such possibility. Chameleons is a joint creation by Shamgar and Shafir, which reflects their shared interest in twilight zones and the volatile and ambiguous nature of such spaces; the piece utilizes the image and concept of the chameleon as a way to reflect about the relationship between body and landscape and about the notion of elusiveness.
Ausencia was conceived, choreographed and written by Zarhy and performed by Keren Lurie Pardes (originally by Ariel Gelbart) with sound by Daniella Ljungsberg; the piece’s dancers-creators are Moran Muller and Ariel Gelbart. It is supported by CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo, the Fund for Independent Artists, and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
Chameleons was conceived and is performed by Shamgar and Shafir; dramaturgy by Nir Vidan; original score by Ayala Shamir.
