Led by artists and CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo Office Manager Guy Bernard Reichmann and Content Manager Mona Benyamin, “out-of-office” is a series of events to be presented in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Focused on time-based practices such as video, dance, and performance, and in line with the multidisciplinary mission of the Center, “o-o-o” was conceived as a way to nurture the domestic scene.

For the third season of “o-o-o,” choreographer May Zarhy initiated a series in which for three consecutive days – May 15, 16 and 17 – two dance pieces will be presented. The two works presented on the third day are Ausencia (2021) by Zarhy and KEEP ON BEATING (2022) by Rotem Greenberg. Developed during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ausencia is a duet performed by one person, conceived for an intimate audience and relating to the body and its absence, to the possibility of touch, and to the difficulty to fulfill such possibility. KEEP ON BEATING is a duet for two dancers and two baseball bats. One rule determines their play: consistently ‘giving up’ one’s own weight.

Ausencia was conceived, choreographed and written by Zarhy and performed by Keren Lurie Pardes (originally by Ariel Gelbart) with sound by Daniella Ljungsberg; the piece’s dancers-creators are Moran Muller and Ariel Gelbart. It is supported by CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo, the Fund for Independent Artists, and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

KEEP ON BEATING was conceived by Greenberg; the piece’s dancer-creator is Neshama Bazer; rehearsal and tour management by Ela Pollak and Uri Weiss; costumes by Tzipora Bazer; featured song – Jealous Guy by John Lennon; the piece is supported by the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality – Department of Arts and Culture, and the Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts, Tel Aviv.
