A Giant Transparent Body emerged out of a feeling that life here is almost always experienced through its vulnerability—through the sense that things can deteriorate  at any given moment. The work creates conditions in which liveliness and its expiration  can exist in an intensified state, becoming the frame through which they come into view.

This iteration of the work takes place across both floors of the Center for Contemporary Art. On the ground floor lie the remains of the Center’s façade, reconstructed by artist Nardeen Srouji for her exhibition that preceded this performance. Visitors can wander through the ruins or look at them from the safe distance of the balcony. The work unfolds on both floors simultaneously, and viewers are free to choose where to look and what to look away from. In this performance,seeing also means losing something, turning a blind eye to what unfolds elsewhere.

A Giant Transparent Body, by Bosmat Nossan, is a durational performance in which five performers repeat the same sequence in two variations, each lasting about an hour. Like in an exhibition space, the audience is invited to choose how long to stay and where to be situated: to come and go, to sit or stand.
