Initiated by Guy Bernard Reichmann and led by CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo Operations Manager Amy Sapan, alongside Content and Press Manager Shahar Mizrahi, “out-of-office” is a series of events presented in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Focused on time-based practices such as video, dance, and performance, and in line with the multidisciplinary mission of the Center, “o-o-o” was conceived to nurture the domestic creative scene.
Entitled “A Duet for Life and Creation,” the performance by dancers Nadav Sharon and Talia Barda, life and creative partners, consists of a collaborative evening: a duet choreographed by him, a duet choreographed by her. Drowning Hazard for Fantasies (2023) by Nadav Sharon is a fantasy about a deeper connection with nature, about being a mermaid. On one side is the dream-like experience of a creature with fins, while on the other is the human reality – two-legged and obsessed with progress. The gap between the dreamy underwater world and the human attempt to conquer the sea, creating stable structures amidst the stormy waves. Woven (2024) by Talia Barda is a dream of ideal love but also a clash between fantasy and reality. It looks at gender norms, fantasy stories, and fairy tales as a basic human need. A tangled mess of thoughts about love that has lost its flavor, the show brings life back into a depressing reality.
Drowning Hazard for Fantasies premiered at the Kelim Choreography Center, Bat Yam, and was created as part of the Re-Search workshop for dancer-creators, under the artistic guidance of Or Marin. Woven premiered at Intimadance Festival 2024, under the artistic guidance of Niv Sheinfeld and Oren Laor.
