A clinical psychologist based in Tel Aviv and a member of the Institute of the Parisian Society of Psychoanalysis, Dr. Daniel Milman became interested in art and psychoanalysis at the age of 17, when he bought his first work of art and started reading Sigmund Freud’s writings. His lecture will begin with a brief introduction to major milestones in the history of psychoanalysis, followed by a presentation of new ways to observe art, based on the most recent psychoanalytical findings. The lecture will focus on three themes: non-verbal encounters, the role of the secret and the understanding of dreams. These will be addressed through descriptions of personal encounters with the works of Alberto Giacometti, Cy Twombly and Louise Lawler.

The event will be held in English.
