Initiated by artists and CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo Content Manager Muhammad Toukhy and Office Manager Guy Bernard Reichmann, “out-of-office” is a series of events to be presented in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Focused on time-based practices such as dance, choreography and performance, and in line with the multidisciplinary mission of the Center, “o-o-o” was conceived as a way to nurture the scene during the dramatic time of the pandemic and its aftermath. The second iteration of this program is DEBBIE by Ben Green and Myy Jeraffi. DEBBIE is a multimedia performance featuring eight artists, including four dancers, an opera singer, a cellist, a sculptor, and the creators themselves. It is a world that merges movement, music, cinema, and poetry – a series of vignettes residing in a vast desert space, a long road stretching from one place to the next. The inhabitants of this world deal with questions of belief and belonging as they search for freedom between the boundaries of loneliness and solitude. DEBBIE was created by Ben Green and Myy Jeraffi and performed by Shir Levi, Roni Rahamim, Inbar Livne, Romi Kopelman, Reika Shirasaka, and Ben Green; text by Shir Levi; sculptures by Ortal Barel; costume and props designed by Myy Jeraffi; and original music and vocals composed and performed by Inbar Livne and Romi Kopelman. The work originally premiered in March 2022 as part of “Batsheva Dancers Create: BABYLON” and was expanded for the presentation at CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo. DEBBIE was supported by Batsheva Dance Company and the Michael Sela Fund for the Cultivation of Young Artists at Batsheva. Special thanks to Ohad Mazor and Rotem Elroi.
