Led by artist and CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo Office Manager Guy Bernard Reichmann, alongside artist and Content Manager Mona Benyamin, “out-of-office” is a series of events to be presented in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Focused on time-based practices such as video, dance, and performance, and in line with the multidisciplinary mission of the Center, “o-o-o” was conceived as a way to nurture the domestic scene.
Bird-Body is a dance performance by Merav Cohen that follows a harpy – the ancient Greek mythological creature that is half-woman and half-bird. Her surrealist journey is not bound to the limitations of the physical body and inhabits several dimensions at once as it moves through space. In Bird-Body the character undergoes a bodily transformation, tracing the moment of birth to the soul’s eventual departure from the body; during such process “Her hands become clouds that release drops of water onto dry land. She swims inside her internal organs from top to bottom, bottom to top, like a fish in water. She flows through the capillaries and veins, the blood coursing through the arteries, assembling her body anew – thus becoming ‘Bird-Body’.”
Choreography by Merav Cohen; performed by Artour Astman; original score by Itay Silber; costume design by Daniela Rutman; artistic advising by Liza Luria; produced by Dana Tsuli.
