Led by artists and CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo Office Manager Guy Bernard Reichmann and Content Manager Mona Benyamin, “out-of-office” is a series of events to be presented in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Focused on time-based practices such as video, dance, and performance, and in line with the multidisciplinary mission of the Center, “o-o-o” was conceived as a way to nurture the domestic scene.
“A collection of works” is an evening dedicated to multiple dance pieces organized by Maayan Liebman Sharon. It will feature three of her own works – Empty Skies, Temporary Name, and It Depends on the Context – in addition to a new piece by Eyal Bromberg titled Magick.
In Empty Skies (2020), Liebman-Sharon seeks to raise the audience’s awareness to the danger of extinction that exists for many bird species and to make them listen to those birds’ songs. In Temporary Name (2024), she deals with questions of intimacy and interpersonal relationships, and closeness while presenting her change of perception on these matters following October 7. It Depends on the Context features two dancers – a man and a woman – who meet at different points along their lifes’ journey; this work in progress strives to discover a physical language that contains both the physical capabilities of dancers and their ability to explore personal relationships in real-time. Magick (2024) – choreographed and performed by Bromberg – is a quest to bring back “magick” into life, beyond logic, manners, and ego, seeking to revive the mystery and the various dimensions of the human spirit. Its title Magick – spelled with refers to the ritualization of one’s spiritual intentions.
Empty Skies (2020) was created by Maayan Liebman-Sharon; the piece’s co-dancer is Natalie Afriat; original music by Boaz Bentur; the work was conceived during a residency program at Zagreb Dance Center, Croatia, as part of the Jerusalem Exchange Program between ZDC and Machol Shalem Dance House. Temporary Name was created by Maayan Liebman-Sharon; the piece’s co-dancers are Yulia Mejetskaya and Eyal Bromberg; original music by Boaz Bentur; artistic advising by Rachel Erdos; the piece premiered at the Machol Shalem Festival 2024.
