Led by artists and CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo Office Manager Guy Bernard Reichmann and Content Manager Mona Benyamin, “out-of-office” is a series of events to be presented in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Focused on time-based practices such as video, dance, and performance, and in line with the multidisciplinary mission of the Center, “o-o-o” was conceived as a way to nurture the domestic scene.
They All Died (2023) by Ayala Berger is an experimental short film that blurs the lines between documentary and fiction, exploring the possibility of reconstructing memories. The film uses an unorthodox approach to shed light on the relationship between a mother and her only daughter. Following these premises, They All Died follows their attempt to reconstruct – through cinema – a small and yet profoundly meaningful memory stemming from their shared past. They All Died is the Lia Van Leer Award recipient for the best experimental short in The Israeli Video Art and Experimental Film Competition, Jerusalem Film Festival, 2023. The award was kindly donated by Rivka Saker.
They All Died will be screened on a loop between January 4 and January 6, in accordance with the Center’s opening hours. On Thursday, January 4 at 8:00pm, a conversation will be held between curator Dr. Maayan Sheleff, Dr. Thalia Hoffman, an artist and researcher, and filmmaker Ayala Berger on the occasion of the screening.
