The Center for Contemporary Art (CCA) invites art students and recent graduates to apply for participation in a Master Class led by artist Manar Zuabi, in the framework of her upcoming exhibition at the CCA (opening November 27, 2025, closing February 7, 2026).

Part of the Rywkind Ben Zour Grant for Art, Education, and Community, this Master Class is open to BA and MA students in art programs as well as graduates of art programs who completed their studies in 2024 or 2025. Selected participants will act as “collborators”, working alongside Zuabi to develop a new site-specific installation. Participants will gain unique insight into the artist–curator relationship, and experience firsthand how creative processes unfold from concept to realization within a museum context.

The Master Class with Manar Zuabi is intended for students and recent graduates who would like to experience firsthand the process of mounting an exhibition at an art institution. Furthermore, it is intended for those who are interested in collaborative models of creation that move beyond the model of the “lone creator,” as well as the intersections of art, architecture, and space. We will also broach the relationship between the work’s materiality and its structure through considerations of scale, the embodied experience of visitors, as well as lighting and its perception from multiple viewpoints. Given Zuabi’s ongoing engagement with performance, the workshop also welcomes artists working in live action who are interested in exploring its connection to sculpture and installation.

In addition to the Master Class, participants will hold individual meetings with the CCA’s curators to go over their work portfolios and for general guidance.

Program Description

The Master Class will take place from November 10 to November 13, for four full working days.

A preliminary information session with Iris Rywkind Ben Zour, the founder of the Grant, and Tamar Margalit, the exhibition’s curator, will be held on October 31.

Participants will contribute to the making of a monumental, site-specific installation using everyday materials such as wool threads and nylon stockings—materials central to Zuabi’s early practice, here expanded into a large-scale, layered intervention in the exhibition space. The process will evolve collectively in real time, beginning with entry to an empty gallery and culminating in the final work.

The participants will receive full credit from the CCA on its website and social media platforms as collaborators in the work’s creation. Additionally, they will be able to – and encouraged – to mention participation in the Master Class on their CVs, sponsored by the Grant.

The Master Class will be documented in a short video that will include interviews with all participants, to be shared on the CCA’s social media platforms. Each participant in the workshop will receive 2,000 NIS compensation.

Interested applicants should complete the registration form here and send it to info@cca.org.il no later than October 20. The form requires: Personal details; a short statement (up to 250 words) describing your artistic practice and interests; a short statement (up to 250 words) outlining your interest in the Master Class. Participation requires full attendance at all sessions and signing a participation agreement.
