Join us for Peter is Back – a live performance featuring artist Amir Yatziv and Peter, the literary character from Franz Kafka’s renowned 1917 story A Report to an Academy, brought to life and appearing on screen. Peter speaks with Yatziv about his life as a former ape, his journey toward humanity, and his desire to escape it. The two also discuss questionable habits and gut feelings, all amid a slippery dynamic of control between director and actor, and between a pre-planned script and a free-roaming conversation mediated by AI.

Like an eccentric road show, the performer relies on little more than his wild imagination and a handful of props he has brought along. He repeatedly risks losing the audience’s trust as he stands – human frailties and all – fully exposed.

Exactly one year after its premiere at the Center for Contemporary Art Tel Aviv-Yafo, the performance, much like the technology it relies on, has evolved and matured. It is now presented as part of A Report, Yatziv’s solo exhibition at the Center, where visitors can encounter Peter in the gallery during opening hours, passing the time and rehearsing between performances.

The event will be held in English.
