From Wednesday, October 30 to Saturday, November 2, CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo will host a pop-up store of ADISH – a Israeli-Palestinian fashion brand which seeks to merge the crafts and culture of the Middle East with contemporary silhouettes. Their clothes combine hand-sewn Palestinian embroidery working with a team of more than 50 Palestinian craftswomen and numerous workshops throughout Palestine and Israel. Their central vision is to empower, develop and connect between the different cultural groups of the region through collaborative efforts and the introduction of each culture’s traditional craft techniques into the global fashion industry. The Pop Up store will feature T-shirts and tote bags that were made as part of ADISH collaboration with CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo, as part of Jordan Nassar’s exhibition “The Sea Beneath Our Eyes.” It will also include various items that were made in the workshops in Israel and Palestine: Dessert Embroidery (Lakiya, Israel), Lakiya Negev Weaving (Lakiya, Israel) and Tatreez For Peace (Dheisheh refugee camp, Palestine), such as embroidered pillow cases, weaved carpets and more.
This event is part of the series “Salons and Kitchenettes,” inspired by “The Sea Beneath Our Eyes,” Jordan Nassar’s solo exhibition at CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo.
