During the month of November 2018, CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery will host “The School,” a project by La Collectiz!, a group of dancers and choreographers directed by Ido Feder and Lilach Livne and which current members are Bosmat Nossan, Ariel Cohen and Shira Eviatar. La Collectiz! focuses on redefining the alphabet of contemporary dance and its current cross-pollination with the field of contemporary art.
The participants of “The School” will explore, study, and refer to themes and methods employed by choreographers who explore space, both physical and conceptual, in connection with the field of contemporary art: from the white cube to the museum, from the gallery to the recurring exhibition. Students of “The School” will study the worksof Mårten Spångberg, Alexandra Pirici, Maria Hassabi, Tino Sehgal, Anne Himhof, and others through sessions led by Lilach Livne and Ido feder. Additional guest lectures will be led by Michal Helfman, Lior Avizoor, Robert Steijn and Mårten Spångberg. Visitors of CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo will be invited to attend “The School” while it is taking place in real time and to observe and to join the students.
The program includes on November 2 a lecture by Michal Helfman and a session devoted to practice; on November 7 a lecture by Michal Helfman and a session devoted to the work of Tino Sehgal, Anne Imhof; on November 8 a lecture by Lior Avizoor and a session devoted to practice; on November 9 a session devoted to practice; on November 14 a session devoted to the work of Maria Hassabi; on November 15 a session devoted to the work of Mårten Spångberg; on November 16 a lecture by Mårten Spångberg on Skype and a session devoted to practice; on November 21 and 22 sessions devoted to the work of Alexandra Pirici; on November 23 a lecture by Robert Steijn on Skype and a “Snake Practice” performative session.
