EXIST IN EVERYTHING BY LIORA KAPLAN

Created by Liora Kaplan on the occasion of “The Promise: Artists to Benefit CCA Tel Aviv” in 2020, this edition refers to the hand palm as a universal symbol of blessing, openness, protection and luck; at the same time, it can be a sign for resistance, a gesture that iterates “enough! no more!” – which seems to be the only consistent reaction to the plethora of injustices dominating our polarized times, as expressed by social movements such as Black Lives Matter, Palestinian Lives Matter or #MeToo. Exist in Everything strives to bridge these opposite directions; on one hand it is an open, giving, guarding, and calming palm – its beauty, its gilded surface, its seductiveness calls you to hold it; on the other hand, it is surprisingly heavy, you need both your hands to carry it and it suddenly makes you realize the weight and significance of giving, the gravitas of a promise.
