To: The Field marks two decades since the Center for Contemporary Art moved into its home on Tzadok HaCohen Street. Over the years, the CCA has become a cornerstone of Israel’s art landscape – a space for artists and audiences seeking to capture the elusive spirit of the contemporary.

This three-day gathering invites artists and art lovers to come together. Through performances, exhibitions, conversations, and shared experiences, we’ll revisit the past, look ahead, and resonate the present together.

Program highlights:

~ Frequency Calibration, a collective drone sound action for times of war and peace

~ Cabbage Head, a flash Group Exhibition

~ This Thing I’m Looking At, artists and thinkers share what currently fascinates them

~ Through a-way, a full day of live musical performances across moods and styles

~ Video Program from the CCA Archive

Frequency Calibration – A Drone Sound Action for Times of War and Peace

Thursday | 6.11 | 7:00pm

As a tribute to the work of Gazan music teacher and social activist Ahmad Moin Abu Amsha, we will gather to hold a single note  by voice or instrument for one hour. The action joins a series of initiatives by Israeli musicians that emerged during the war, inspired by Abu Amsha, who encouraged his students to sing and play along with the sound of the drones hovering over their daily lives,  as an act of resistance against the erasure of Gaza’s cultural institutions. The drone, once part of the harsh reality, became in his hands a musical instrument – a means of presence and solace.

In drone practice, the long, sustained tone might seem aimless, but in its stillness lies power – a frequency that remains, resonates, builds space, and leaves a vibration even after it fades. Like the Buddhist metta (loving-kindness) meditation, the act is performed with generosity, without purpose or goal, only with intention. You’re invited to join – bring an instrument or simply your voice.

Cabbage Head: A Flash Group Exhibition

Thursday-Saturday, 6-8.11

Inspired by Serge Gainsbourg’s 1976 concept album L’Homme à Tête de Chou, this exhibition pairs artists who shift between roles and hierarchies, creating a narrative space where stories intertwine into romances, conflicts, and imagined encounters – a distorted telenovela woven from works placed side by side and within one another.

Artists: Orit Adar Bechar, Or Ariely, Meital Aviram, Leila Rose Bari, Yahav Gal, Yonatan Geron, Tomer Fruchter, Shahar Mizrahi. Curators: Meital Aviram and Shahar Mizrahi.

This Thing I’m Looking At

Friday, 7.11, 11:00am-12:00pm (first session) and 1:00pm-2:15pm (second session)

We invited artists and thinkers to share what fascinates them these days – an object, word, phenomenon, or idea at the center of their current thought or gaze.
A gathering for sharing and reflection – an opportunity to observe artistic and intellectual processes in motion.

Participants: Laila Abd Elrazaq, Ariel Sereni Brown, Dr. Zohar Elmakias, Dr. Amir Farjoun, Talia Keinan, Roy Menachem Markovich, Lee Nevo, Michal Samama, Muhammad Toukhy. Curator: Tal Yahas.
