Artist Talk Noa Yafe & Roee Rosen

Monday February 13, 7 pm

In conjunction with “The Perfect Crime,” Noa Yafe will present previous works and her sources of inspiration, and discuss her current exhibition at the CCA with artist Roee Rosen. The event will be held in Hebrew.

About the Speakers

Roee Rosen is an Israeli-American artist, filmmaker, and writer. His painting and text-based installation, Live and Die as Eva Braun (1995-1997), stirred a scandal when first exhibited at the Israel Museum. It was later recognized as groundbreaking in its approach to the representation of the Holocaust and has been exhibited worldwide, with an upcoming presentation at documenta14, where The Blind Merchant (1989-1991) and The Dust Channel (2016) will also be presented. Rosen’s films include Out (2010), winner of the Orizzonti Award for best medium-length film at the Venice Film Festival. His most recent fictive character, Maxim Komar-Myshkin, and a collective he supposedly founded, The Buried Alive Group, created a series of videos that have been assembled into a film, The Buried Alive Videos. The accompanying book Maxim Komar-Myshkin, Vladimir’s Night (2014) was published by Sternberg Press, which has also published The Blind Merchant (2016) and Sweet Sweat (2009).

Noa Yafe is a Tel Aviv based artist who studied photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York and earned a BFA from Hamidrasha at Beit Berl College, where she also completed her post graduate studies in 2012. Solo exhibitions of her work have been held at MoBY (Museums of Bat Yam), Raw Art Gallery, and D&A Gallery for Contemporary Photography in Tel Aviv. Yafe has exhibited in various group exhibitions in venues such as the Artists Studios in Jerusalem, Primary Projects in Miami, and the Paint Box Gallery in New York. She has participated in Paris’ Cité des Arts residency program. Yafe was awarded the Igal Zak Honorary Grant from Hamidrasha at Beit Berl College, Honorable Mention at the 2009 International Photography Awards, and the Keren Sharet Young Artist Scholarship by the America Israel Cultural Foundation.
