Jan Tichy – 01:37:24:05

On Thursday, September 2nd, 2010, the CCA will open the first major solo exhibition of Jan Tichy in Israel.

The exhibited works range from the earliest works to a new commissioned work – Installation no. 11- taking over most of the ground floor gallery.

Jan Tichy was born in 1974 in Czechoslovakia.  He immigrated to Israel where he studied political science at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, photography at the Nagar School of Photography and New Media (Musrara) and Advanced Studies program at the Bezalel Academy in Tel Aviv. He earned his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Tichy has been living in Chicago, USA since 2007. Working in photography, video, sound and sculpture, and with his virtuoso treatment of lights and shadows, Tichy’s works discover hidden structures, concealed or disposed elements of culture, and political power.
